This winter so far in San Diego has been a little bit wet and windy! We’re forever grateful for all the rain we can here, but we sure feel as little bit stuck for fun things to do when the weather turns.
Here’s some of our staff rainy day favorites locally to keep you entertained!
VISIT BIRCH AQUARIUM:
As surfers we all spend a lot of our time in and on top of the water, but what lurks below? Take a visit to Birtch Aquarium and discover some of the incredible sea life that inhabits the unique coastal environments here along our beautiful coast. Interesting exhibitions, creative talks and feedings and best of all the extensive seahorses on display! Just a short 30 minute drive from Encinitas, it’s worth the trip!
ENJOY A COFFE AT PANNIKIN:
This place is the perfect spot to cosy up in a nook with a good book, hot coffee and watch the world go by. This prominent old, bright yellow building along Highway 101 in Encinitas serves up a incredible coffee and their cakes are to die for. The building itself used to be the old Encinitas train station (relocated to its current position) and is worth a visit any day of the week!
A SPOT OF SHOPPING:
Encinitas and Leucadia are brimming with small and unique businesses. Mozy your way along the 101 and you’ll stumble across boutiques, surf shops, art shop and much more. There’s several surf shops in Leucadia and Encinitas, all with their own unique collections of surfboards and gear. Fun thing to do: Grab a cool sticker from each shop as you go!! See if you can collect them all.

With a wealth of small cafes and restaurants, Leucadia and Encinitas are a food lovers dream. Cruise along the 101 and samples some of the local delights as you go.
